Meet The Initiatives Team.

My goal in GCAP is to make sustainability something that’s fun, accessible, and easy for students to get involved in. I want to help create events and initiatives that show how sustainable living can fit into everyday student life in an exciting and meaningful way. I'm passionate about building a community where caring for the planet feels empowering.

Sustainability is a great passion of mine, as I have always felt an inherent responsibility to protect the earth and appreciate what it provides us daily. I have always had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and want to preserve its beauty as much as possible. The earth offers up so much for us every day; the least we can do is shift our mindsets towards a more sustainable future. I believe we can make a sustainable future sound more attainable by working together to enact actual, meaningful change. That’s why I am so excited to be GCAP’s Initiatives Intern to implement and reform new ways to think Green at UCR!

I hope to help UCR progress in their journey towards a cleaner campus and truly make a change. I'm passionate about the fact that practicing sustainability brings the possibility for building a brighter future and uplifting life conditions for humans and other living beings. What makes me hopeful about the future of clean energy is that community building is a large factor of making progress so we should strive to connect two broken branches of society.

As a member of GCAP I hope to educate people on campus on the importance of living a sustainable lifestyle and reducing our carbon footprint. What makes me passionate about sustainability is creating a zero waste lifestyle that is accessible to the general public. Consumer culture has become a serious issue and it’s derived from ignorance but also systematic forces that can be impossible to escape from. By educating and demonstrating alternatives to others, I hope to be able to inspire people, the impact we can make by making these changes.

I seek to apply what I've learned through anthropology to encourage people to integrate sustainability into their lifestyles and make the practice appeal to people culturally. Within GCAP I hope to highlight concerns for the environmental impact of AI, fast fashion, and the normalization of plastic.

I joined the Initiatives Team because I love working on hands-on projects that make sustainability more approachable and actionable for students. I'm especially excited to help create programs and resources that show how small changes can add up to a big impact. Through GCAP, I hope to learn, collaborate, and help make sustainability feel less overwhelming and more like something we can all be part of together.
